JAZZMATAZZ

Jazzmatazz is the school’s dance club.

Membership is by invitation only to pupils of the school aged 7 years and over, who already attend at least two different dance programmes.

Jazzmatazz provides the students with an opportunity to explore and experiment with a variety of dance styles ranging from classical ballet to modern, whilst improving on the dance skills they already have. Senior members of the club are actively encouraged to assist with choreography during class, and often get the chance to perform their own compositions at shows and competitions.

Senior Class

Meetings for Junior and Intermediate members are held at Fairfield School, Backwell on Friday nights, whilst senior members meet on a Tuesday evening at the same venue.

Jazzmatazz regularly produce impressive dance displays under the direction of their chief choreographer Adele Stitch. The most recent Christmas show ‘Let’s Party’ was their most triumphant to date, with all performances sold out, and proceeds from the sale of tickets donated to ‘The Babe Appeal’ a local children’s charity.

Junior Class

The club enters groups into the highly competitive Bristol Dance Eisteddfod each year, with several first place awards being achieved in recent years. Groups of dancers from the club also perform at local events for the benefit of various charities.
